Recently, the CBI has registered an FIR against Trinamool leader Tapas Saha of Nadia district in the famous teacher appointment corruption case of West Bengal. Now a source in the central agency has told that Tapas had woven such a web of appointment corruption in which candidates were not only trapped for teacher appointment but also guaranteed to pass the exam for senior bureaucratic posts like WBCS.
The CBI has got such evidence which is being prepared to be presented in the court. It is learned that Tapas, MLA from Tehat in Nadia district, along with his PA Praveer Kayal hatched such a conspiracy in which those appearing for all kinds of government job exams were implicated. Such documents have also been recovered from Praveer's house. Its copy will be submitted to the court.
Recently, following the order of Calcutta High Court, CBI has registered an FIR against Tapas and his house was raided only last week. Many important documents were recovered from there. The house of Tapas's PA Praveer is in Shyampur, Howrah. There also documents related to appointment in the Agriculture Department were found during the search operation.
Apart from this, a person has given a statement to the CBI that between 2021 and 2022, Tapas took Rs 24 lakh from him. In this, 14 lakh was deposited in cash and the remaining 10 lakh in the account of a third person. Another person has claimed to have given Rs 19 lakh. One of them was assured of passing the WBCS exam while the other was assured of a job in the Agriculture Department. The CBI is preparing to interrogate all of them and record their statements.
It is notable that despite the raid and search operation at Tapas' house, he has not been arrested at present.
